PD239: 1849c 6th Plate Architectural Scenic Daguerreotype of a Prominent Mansion House In a City on top of a Hill Overlooking Water: Rare outdoor city scene sixth plate daguerreotype of an architecturally interesting mansion overlooking a river/lake. The building is very distinctive. Given the architectural style and build up waterside location, it is reasonable to conclude that the location was probably one of the larger American/Canadian east coast cities and could possibly be identified with more research. A cursory search shows that various Pennsylvania and New York locations are possibilities. The best cases so far however point to Canada in both Montreal and Quebec City (both displaying the necessary architecture, elevation and correct water topography). Archivally resealed with P90 tape.
