Interesting and unique image of a man taken circa 1843. The plate chemistry and lighting (violet in hue reminiscent of S&H) is very advanced for the date. No hallmarks. Brass mat is very similar to a known 1841 portrait of Southworth. Pristine plate and case – superb!
